ASHLAND – Members of the performance company at Annemarie’s Dance Center performed modern dance numbers under candlelight Saturday night.
The performances were the first of a dozen stops along the downtown stroll, as part of the 2nd Annual Illuminate Downtown Ashland last night, December 8.
Artistic director and Annemarie’s Dance Centre owner Chrissy Reynolds wanted an event to celebrate the arts in downtown. With the help of the Town’s Economic Development Director Beth Reynolds, and Arts Alliance, the Illuminate event was created last year.
The goal of the event is to “shine a light on the thriving arts community in Ashland.”
Once again, attendees started their night at the dance center, where they could watch performances in three studios.
Afterwards, attendees strolled down to The Corner Spot where dozens of trees were decorated by City Hall employees, organizations, and businesses throughout the community.
There were performers inside the Ashland Historical Society, the Ashland Public Library, and The Bagel Table, which was also giving out free cookies to little and big kids.
The Ashland High School chorus performed on the steps of Town Hall, and attendees could sit for a portrait at We Are All In This Together at 30 Main Street.
Needham Bank provided supplies for families to decorate kindness rocks at stop number eight.
Ashland Reiki and Wellness was open late for shopping; and Erica’s and Stone’s were open for food and drink in between the dozen stops. Stone’s was also encouraging attendees to create an ornament to take home.
The final stop was the community gardens, where attendees could take a tour and view the many student-made luminaries.
The entire event was presented by the Town of Framingham and Annemarie’s Dance Center.
