FRAMINGHAM – Celeste A. (Fonseca) Cordeiro, 83, a longtime resident of Framingham died Thursday, December 6, 2018, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lousa, Portugal, she was the the daughter of the late Alcino Americo Fonseca & Isolina De Natividade Vega.
She is the beloved wife of Avelino Dos Santos Cordeiro.
Celeste immigrated first to Brazil in 1967 and to the United States in 1969, settling in Framingham to raise her family.
Celeste was the caretaker of her family, always making sure everyone was happy never asking anything in return. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed classic movies, and thanks to her upbringing in Portugal loved animals. She liked to knit and the beach, but family was her passion.
Besides her beloved husband Avelino, Celeste is survived by her children, Luis Cordeiro of Framingham, and Maria C. Bailote & her husband Francisco of Framingham. Her loving grandchildren: Tessa Piantedosi & her husband Robert, Felicia Freeland & her husband Tyler, and Raquel Bailote. Her cherished great grandchildren: Isabela & Mila Piantedosi and Julian Freeland. Her sisters: Maria Tavares, Alice Fonseca and Fatima Borges and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 5 brothers.
Family and friends will honor and remember Celeste’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home: 11 Lincoln Street in Framingham Tuesday, December 11 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Interment will be private.
