5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Friday, Dec 7

1 Tonight is the annual tree lighting ceremony for the City of Framingham. The Framingham Girl Scouts will lead the crowd in a holiday sing-a-long on the steps of the Memorial Building starting at 5;45 p.m., followed by Santa arriving on a fire truck. Between 6 and 6:15 p.m., the tree lighting will take place.

 

2. Break a leg to the Framingham High School Drama Company, who performs its second of a 5-show run of Mamma Mia! tonight. Performances are 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday and next week Dec. 13-14. 3. City Hall will close today at 12:30 p.m., as part of the Mayor’s pilot program. City Hall remains open on Tuesdays until 7 p.m. but closes at 12:30 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. on Fridays. The Mayor is considering making this permanent.

Residents can take a survey to voice their opinion. Today is the final day of the survey.

 

4. According to Mayor’s public calendar  on the City of Framingham’s website, the Mayor will attend teh MetroWest Chamber of Commerce’s women’s empowerment luncheon in Wayland this afternoon. She will also be at the tree lighting ceremony tonight

 

5.  The MetroWest YMCA has its Winter Wonderland holiday party tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m.Crafts, bouncy house, activities, and a special performance from our Dance program. Free for members. $10 per family for non members.
