FRAMINGHAM – Edvige “Edith” (Zaffino) Colonnelli, 92, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 25, 2018 following a period of declining health.
Born in Bivongi, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Agostino & Theresa (Passarelli) Zaffino, and the beloved wife of the late Julio Colonnelli who predeceased her in 2013.
Edith’s family immigrated to the U.S. in 1930 where they resided in the Framingham/Natick area.
She was employed at various shoe manufacturing companies in the Metrowest, and retired from Marshall’s Department Store in the 1990’s.
Edith was a devout Catholic, and a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s and St. Linus Churches. Her family was the center of her life, and enjoyed the many times they shared. She will be lovingly remembered by all she interacted with.
Edith is survived by her beloved son, Vincent & his wife JoAnna of Framingham, her grandson, Paul V. & his wife Allina of Marlborough, her great grandson, Mason, her sister, Rose Schoener of Framingham, her nieces, Carol Mallegni & her husband Dante of Mattapoisett, and Cheryl DiMatteo & her husband Peter of Framingham, 5 grand nieces and nephews, and 4 great grand nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Edith was predeceased by her sister & brother–in-law, Edna Lambert & her husband Roy, her brother-in-law, Richard Schoener, and nephew, Timothy Schoener.
Family and friends will honor and remember Edith’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham, on Wednesday, November 28 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning in St. George Church, 74 School St., Saxonville at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Natick.
