FRAMINGHAM – The Brazilian-American Center (BRACE) hosted an immigration and health fair yesterday, November 18 at BRACE on Route 135. General Consulates of Brazil, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador, and Peru participated in the event which drew many city leaders.
In attendance was Mayor Yvonne Spicer, 7 District City Councilor Margareth Shepard, District 6 City Councilor Mike Rossi, District 8 City Councilor Judy Grove, and District 9 City Councilor Edgardo Torres. District 5 School Committee member Noval Alexander, District 8 School Committee member Gloria Pascual, and District 9 School Committee member Tracey Bryant also attended.
Services at the fair included screenings for cancer, diabetes, and high cholesterol. The City of Framingham provided flu vaccinations. There was also dental health and mental health awareness.
Information about educational opportunities was also part of the fair. There was a booth about the Fuller Middle School building project and the December 11 special election.
There were performances and food at the event too.
