CAMBRIDGE – For the 5th time in five years, Andover High won the Division 1 state championship in girls swim and dive at Harvard University this morning, November 18. The seniors on that team went 60-0 over the last four seasons.
Framingham High captured fifth place overall at the meet, under head coach Mike Foley.
The Flyers best finish was in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where Framingham finished fourth overall. Swimmers on that relay were Jessica Tosi, Meg DiPasquale, Tatum O’Leary, and Marley DeSimone. Their time was 1:43.77 minutes. Needham’s Rockets won the event in 1:41.46 minutes.
The Flyers finished fifth in the medley relay to open the meet. Swimmers on that relay were DiPasquale, Laura Dube, Caroline Mazariegos, and DeSimone.
Framingham placed three divers in the top 16.
Junior Sara Anastasi finished fifth overall. Sophomore Sarah Olson finished 8th and sophomore Angela Burke finished 16th overall.
Junior O’Leary finished 8th overall in the 100-yard butterfly event for Framingham. Her time was 1:03.38 minutes.
Flyer freshman Dube 10th overall in the 100 breaststroke event. Her time was 1:11.31.
Framingham junior Mazariegos finished 9th in the backstroke. Her time was 1:03.47 minutes. Junior Jillian O’Neil finished 15th in 1:05.38 minutes.
Mazariegos also finished 11th in the 100-yard freestyle event. Her time was 57.01 seconds.
Flyer freshman DiPasquale finished tied for 11th place in the 50-yard freestyle event. Her time was 26.16 seconds. Framingham junior DeSimone finished 13th at 26.29 seconds. Framingham freshman Trinity Trainor also swam in the event and finished out of the points at 26.68 seconds in 19th place overall.
It was the final meet for Framingham senior Emily Rogers.
The other four seniors on the team did not qualify for the state meet.
