Charles R. Fitzgerald, 88, Korean Conflict Veteran

FRAMINGHAM – Charles R. Fitzgerald, 88, a longtime resident of Framingham and then of Hopkinton, died Wednesday, November 14th, 2018 following a brief illness.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Charles and Gertrude Fitzgerald, and was the beloved husband of the late Rose C. (Gilberto) Fitzgerald for 59 years.

A 1948 graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin, Charles went on to  meet his wife Rose and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict, ultimately settling down to raise a family in Framingham.

Charles was a cherished member of the community with a kind and generous heart and a loving influence.

More than anything he adored his family; his children James and his wife Colleen, Trudy and her husband Chris, Chris and his wife Laurie, and John.  He was blessed with his grandchildren; Jennifer, Kelly, Ryan, Kimberly, Connor, Sean, Kevin, Trey, and Thomas, as well as many nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his sisters, Janice and Shirley Bonvie.

Family and friends will remember and honor Charles’ life by gathering for visiting hours at the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, located at 11 Lincoln Street in Framingham on Monday, November 19 from 4 to 8 p.m.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 20th at St. John the Evangelist Church located at 20 Church Street in Hopkinton at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Framingham.
