FRAMINGHAM – John J. Sullivan, 88, a longtime Framingham resident, died Friday, November 2, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Born in Medford the son of the late, Joseph W. & Rhoda G. (Boudreau) Sullivan, he was the beloved husband of Janet A. (Cotter) Sullivan for 62 years.
John was a graduate of Natick High School, and a proud member of the Massachusetts National Guard and the U.S. Air Force.
He enjoyed a 17 year career as a firefighter in Framingham when injury forced him to follow another career path.
He went on to run his own business, Nobscot Lawn & Power, retiring as head custodian at the Claypitt School in the Town of Wayland.
A quiet man, John was a great observer. He loved his cottage in New Hampshire, fishing, and foremost his family.
Besides his wife Janet, John is survived by his son, Timothy P. & his wife Katherine of Framingham, his grandchildren, Andrew & his wife Caitlin of Holliston, and Kelly and Lily Sullivan of Framingham, his sister, Ann L. Farley of Ashland, and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Street and Rhoda Hobin.
Family and friends will honor and remember John’s life by gathering for his funeral service in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham, on Friday, November 9 at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Framingham.
