FRAMINGHAM – A homeless man man was arrested and charged with stealing more than $1,200 from a Framingham church.
Framingham Police arrested John Wilson, 49, who does not have an address, after Rev. Volmar Scravelli from St. Tarcisius Catholic Church called police.
Rev. Scarvelli said Wilson had stolen thousands of dollars from the church’s locked candle donation box at multiple times.
Police arrested and charged Wilson with two counts of breaking and entering during the night, larceny of more than $1,200, larceny from a depository and possession of burglary tools used in burglaries, said Lt. Patricia Grigas.
Wilson had a tool in his possession, he may have used to steal the money from the locked box.
Wilson told Police “I know what I did. I was stupid,” said Lt. Grigas.
He was arraigned in Framingham District Court.
Judge Matthew McGrath released him without bail, ordering him to stay away from the church.
