HOPKINTON – Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan and Hopkinton Chief of Police Edward Lee have confirmed that Damon Deniso, 41, of North Andover, was arraigned today, November 1, in Framingham District Court in connection with an alleged non-fatal stabbing that occurred this morning in Hopkinton.

Deniso was charged with armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Judge Matthew McGrath ordered the defendant held without bail pending a 58A dangerousness hearing scheduled for November 6.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. the Hopkinton Police Communications Center received a 911 call for a report of a man bleeding from his head at a residence on West Main Street.  The Hopkinton Police and Fire ambulance responded to the West Main Street residence.

Upon arrival authorities learned that the man who was a guest at the house had allegedly been stabbed by the defendant. The assailant had fled the scene.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Witnesses, including the victim, allegedly identified the suspect as the person who had committed the stabbing.  Officers of the Hopkinton Police Department and a K9 Trooper from the Massachusetts State Police began a search for the suspect who was located at his workplace which was close to the West Main Street residence. Deniso was taken into custody without incident.

This investigation is being conducted by the Hopkinton Police Department and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and this is not believed to be a random incident.

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutor assigned to today’s arraignment was Assistant District Attorney Joe Gentile.
