FRAMINGHAM – I was shocked to see that the Boston Globe endorsed Governor Baker and celebrated his perceived ‘leadership’.
In fact, Governor Baker does not exhibit leadership. On his watch he allowed the MBTA to decay. He ignores the vital need to fund our public school system. He neglects his duties in turning his back on the Fair Share Amendment that would address the perilous state of our infrastructure and public education. It comes as no surprise that we are eighth in the nation because Governor Baker’s ignores the plight of these fundamental systems.
It matters not if Baker is perceived as a “nice guy.” He poses as a moderate even as he endorses the reprehensible policies of President Trump especially the dismantling of the Affordable Care Act. Baker has cut vital funding for significant programs including those that focus on the critical Opioid epidemic and badly needed mental health services. His endeavors to remove 100,000 working parents from MassHealth failed twice, thanks to the legislature.
“Nice guys” should not fund Republicans who undercut women’s rights, transgender rights, and civil rights. This ‘moderate’ governor supports Geoff Diehl, an ardent supporter of President Trump.
“Nice guys” should not be in the pocket of the NRA accepting their money and placing them in power.
Neither should Baker align himself with the RGA, closely tied to the NRA.
