Alan Wheeler, 79, Former Framingham Building Inspector, Navy Veteran, and Youth Hockey Coach

FRAMINGHAM – Alan E. Wheeler, 79, of Hudson, formerly a lifelong Framingham resident died suddenly, October 23, 2018.

Born in Framingham he was the son of the late Frank Douglas & Mabel (Finnemore) Wheeler, and the beloved husband of V. Joan (Murphy) Wheeler.

He was a 1957 graduate of Framingham High School, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

After he returned home, he went on to graduate from Suffolk University.

Wheeler worked as a general contractor and built many homes in and around Framingham, and retired as the building inspector for the Town of Framingham.

He spent many years and many hours as a member of the board of directors for Framingham Youth Hockey, coaching many teams as well. Al enjoyed golfing with friends, and a good day of boating on the Cape.

Besides his beloved wife Joan, Al is survived by his sons, Adam C. of Framingham, and Josh A. & his wife Kristin of Millbury, and his grandson Owen Alan.

Family and friends will honor and remember Al’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln Street Framingham on Friday, October 26 from 4 – 8 p.m.

Interment will take place in MA National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
