FRAMINGHAM – Edward B. Konopka, 62, of Douglas, formerly of Framingham, died suddenly, October 18, 2018.
Born in Westfield, he was the son of the late, Edward W. & Agnes M. (Guthrie) Konopka, and the beloved husband for 31 years to Donna Marie (Porter) Konopka and best friend of 40 years.
A graduate of 1974 Framingham South High School, Ed went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy.
For many years he worked security for a number of companies, and retired as the head custodian for the past 20 years at Wayland High School.
Ed was passionate in collecting war memorabilia, was a coin club member, an accomplished gardener, loved music and song writing and playing one of his many guitars, and always got a good laugh from The Three Stooges. He loved taking yearly trips to VT for family reunions.
Family and friends were everything to Ed, besides his wife Donna Marie, he is survived by his children, Tina M. Bradford & her fiancé Michael Berthiaume of Auburn, and Douglas John R. Bradford of Holyoke, his grandchildren, Kearnan Rose, Bryleigh, Kayleigh, and John Michael, his brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law, Karen Clain & her husband Paul, Patti Ann Johnstone & her husband Kenny, John C. Porter, Jr. & his wife Ronie, Kevin M. Porter, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Sheryl Porter.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ed’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham, on Wednesday, October 24 from 4 to 6;30 p.m.
His funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.
Interment will be private.
