FRAMINGHAM – Christine Suau was presented with the inaugural She’s Local Goddess Award at the 2nd Annual MetroWest Conference for Women last Thursday, September 20.
Suau is the founder of the Devin Suau Foundation & the hashtag made famous around the world#whynotDevin.
Devin, one of four of Christine’s sons, died last October from DIPG, a rare disease that has no cure. The hashtag was created hoping that he would be the first to beat the disease.
The Framingham mother personifies the three distinct traits that are reflective of a women’s contribution to creating a stronger local community; she embraces life challenges with optimism and bravery, she tests traditional thinking to initiate change, and she ventures beyond herself to empower and collaborate with others, said MetroWest Conference founder and CEO Jen Maseda.
Suau accepted the award at the sold out conference in front of 650 women and a few men, at the Framingham Sheraton Hotel.
Next month, a 5K road race is being held in Devin’s memory to raise money to find a cure for DIPG and to help families still battling it.
