Framingham Public Schools Hosting First-Ever Swap Day on Saturday

FRAMINGHAM – Connection and community support is a huge and growing component for Framingham Public Schools. Kicking of the school year with the Back To School Family Picnic was one step towards bringing our community together and setting the tone for the school year.

This week the Bilingual Family Engagement Office is preparing to host a different kind of event aimed to bring families together in a way that’s both supportive and helpful.

Framingham’s first-ever ‘Swap Day’ will be held this Saturday, September 29, in the Fuller Middle School Cafeteria from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

‘Swap Day’ is an opportunity for families to exchange clothing and shoes that their children have outgrown and also save gently used items from being discarded.

“The Bilingual Family Engagement Office wanted to create a platform for the community to come together and help each other,” said Claudia Diaz, Bilingual Family Engagement Coordinator. “Kids outgrow clothes and shoes quickly. Swap Day is a fun way to encourage a Fall ‘clean-up’ for some of those clothing items and also provides a great opportunity for our families to come and get what they need for their children. Our goal is to make the Swap Day a semi-annual event.”

Donations of preschool – teen clothing, shoes, coats, and books are being accepted from Monday, September 24 through Friday, September 28 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Drop-offs can be made at the Bilingual Family Engagement Office, 31 Flagg Dr. Door 4A, Framingham MA 01702. All items must be clean and in good condition.

All items gathered this week will be organized and made accessible on Saturday, September 29 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Families can come and get what they need for the current or upcoming seasons.

Families are encouraged to bring bags to collect desired items. Families do not have to donate in order to take items and all remaining items after the Swap Day will be donated.

If you have questions about the event you can contact Claudia Diaz at 508-782-7292 or by email: cdiaz@framingham.k12.ma.us.
