UPDATED: Man Killed By CSX Train in Ashland

ASHLAND – An man was struck and killed by a CSX train tonight, September 23, on the Framingham/Worcester line in Ashland.

“Just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening, a CSX train struck a pedestrian near Main Street in Ashland. There were no reported injuries to the train crew,” said The CSX spokesperson.

Transit Police detectives reported they are on the scene and investigating, the CSX train striking a trespasser on the line.

The man was struck just under the Fountain Street bridge in Ashland.

“Ashland Police Department confirmed the pedestrian was fatally injured,” said the CSX spokesperson.

Police and not releasing details or the man’s name, at this time.

“CSX is cooperating with the Ashland Police Department, who are investigating the incident.  The train consisted of two locomotives and 6 empty rail cars.  CSX appreciates the swift response by local emergency personnel and extends its thoughts to those impacted by this tragic event,” said the CSX spokesperson.
