PHOTOS: Hoops and Homework Program Honors Senate President Spilka, Volunteers, and Staff

FRAMINGHAM – Hoops and Homework hosted a Thank You Event this month for friends and supporters.

Senate President Karen Spilka was honored for her support of the Framingham program. She was presented a special award by Hoops and Homework Vice president Phil Ottaviani Jr.

“The evening was a outstanding success with more than 170 attendees” with representatives from state and city government, including City councilors, School Committee members, Planning Board members,  Zoning Board of Appeals members, Framingham Disability Commission members and the members of the Fraingham Library board said Hoops and Homework Founder Herb Chasan.

“The food was great. Thanks to La Cantina,” said Chasan. “Everyone seemed to have quite a nice time.”

Three dozen certificates of appreciation were presented to Hoops and Homework staff,” said Chasan. Certificates were also presented to Boston Marathon runners who raised more than$50,000 for Hoops and Homework, and to other volunteers.

Twenty-five awards were given “out to very special folks who helped to make Hoops and Homework a success,” said Chasan.

“Special thanks to Victor Ortiz, member of the Planning Board, who sponsored the event,” said Chasan.

Awards presented to: District 1 City Councilor Charlie Sisitsky, Cochituate Cooperative Homes Esther Daniels, Capital Group Properties William Depietri, Landscape Depot John Mullen, Car Max,  Lois Herman, Cathy Miles, Phil Ottaviani, Dick Weader, Pam Kaufmann, Framingham Housing Authority Director Paul Landers, Wellesley Village Church Betty Seaborn, Framingham Elks Laura Medrano, District 2 School Committee member Ricky Finlay, Senate President Karen Spilka, Middlesex Savings Bank Michael G.McAuliffe, Mutual One Bank Yves Munyankind, Avidia Bank Mark O’Connell, Tony and Pat McMunn  and Brendon Homes Brendon Giblin, according to Hoops and Homework.



Certificates of appreciation were presented to Mike Croci, Claudia Ruiz-Gustafson, Lucas Gustafson, Fredda Tice, Tiffany Lillie, Jeen Kniveton, Nathalia Castrillon, Molly Covarrubias, Linda Ayers, Jill Macglaflin, and Adam Steiner, according to Hoops and Homework.


Certificate of appreciation were presented to Boston Marathon runners: Jeff Beling, Megan Bubelo, Bree Cunningham, Joe Kynoch, Diana Linn , Jason Miller
Mark Nickerson, Leslie White Harvey, and Priscila Sousa
