WORCESTER – The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that 26 student athletes have earned a spot on the 2018 Assumption College Women’s Soccer team.
Two of the student-athletes were from Natick. They were:
- Diana Bruggeman, Class of 2022
- Samantha Ferrera, Class of 2020
The Hounds’ Women’s Soccer team finished the 2017 season 10-6-2 overall and 7-6-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
The team was picked fifth in the 2018 Northeast-10 Preseason Poll voted upon by the leagues’ head coaches. Kallie Villemaire ’19 and Victoria Stowell ’20 have been named captains for the 2018 season. Last season, Villemaire had a record-setting season and was named D2CCA Women’s Soccer East Region Player of the Year.
“This season, our goals are simple: we want to prepare our bodies and minds to practice every day with a high intensity level and with a competitive, yet supportive culture,” said Head Coach Grace Barnard. “As we prepare for each match, our thoughts as we step on the field are backed by our confidence to win. We expect all of the players here to make an impact on our program on a daily basis by working hard and developing as a cohesive group. Playing at the Division II level is no easy feat, especially in the NE10; and we applaud our student-athletes in how they carry themselves from an academic standpoint and athletically competing day in and day out over their four years as a college athlete here at Assumption College.”
