FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State University field hockey team has been predicted to finish 12th in the 2018 Little East Conference Field Hockey Preseason Poll as voted upon by the LEC’s 13 head coaches.
Worcester State University has been selected to win the 2018 Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey championship. The Lancers, who totaled 138 points and received seven first-place votes, posted an overall record of 15-4 a year ago, and claimed the LEC regular season crown with a 10-1 league record.
Defending LEC tournament champion Keene State College was picked to finish second after totaling 133 points and picking up five first-place votes. Plymouth State University was picked to finish third in the poll after collecting 114 points and the one remaining first-place vote.
The remaining four programs predicted to qualify for the eight-team LEC tournament were Bridgewater State University (89 points), UMass Dartmouth (86 points), Eastern Connecticut State University (80 points) and the University of Southern Maine (64 points). Fitchburg State and Western Connecticut came in tied at 57 points for ninth place followed by Castleton with 54. The Rams pulled in 21 points followed by Salem State who tallied 17 points.
The Rams open their season on Tuesday, September 4, when they host Regis at 4:30 pm.
