FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State women’s soccer team has been predicted to finish fifth in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll selected by the eight coaches from around the league.
The Rams finished the conference season at 2-5 and an overall record of 6-11-1 in 2017.
Returning for the Rams is All-Conference honoree Erin Angelillo, who anchored a Rams defense held their opponents to a 2.50 goals against average with two shutouts during the 2017 season. Kayla Almstrom led the squad last season with five goals and four assists for 14 points a season ago.
Westfield State landed in first with three first place votes for 45 points in this year’s poll. They earned a share of the 2017 regular season title with Bridgewater State and Worcester State who are tied for second place in the poll after all three finished 6-1 in league action. Sitting in fourth with 29 points is Salem State followed by the Rams with 20 points. Coming up next in sixth is MCLA with 20 points and finishing out the 2018 women’s soccer poll in seventh and eighth are Fitchburg State and Massachusetts Maritime with 16 and 12 points, respectively.
The 2018 MASCAC women’s soccer season will begin for the Rams on Friday, August 31st when they host Clark University for a 6:30 p.m. start.
