UPDATED: Temescal Wellness Holds Grand Opening in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM — Temescal Wellness had its grand opening in Framingham today, August 17.

WEMF Radio was at the grand opening on Friday.

The company plans to sell both medical and non-medical marijuana at its adult-use shop at 665 Cochituate Road (Route 30).

Temescal Wellness of Massachusetts, Inc., was approved to sell medical marijuana, and has received a a priority certification from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Cannabis Control Commission to sell recreational marijuana. Voters in Massachusetts in 2016 approved legalized recreational marijuana.

The community of Framingham, as a Town, agreed to at least two medical marijuana companies within its borders.

Under state law, since Framingham approved two medical marijuana establishments, it must have a minimum of two recreational dispensaries within its borders.

But Temescal Wellness said “due to circumstances beyond our control, we CANNOT sell cannabis to our patients” at its grand opening.

The hold up is likely because the Mayor of Framingham has not executed a host agreement with Temescal Wellness.

The 11-member Framingham City Council is expected to hear a recommendation from a City Marijuana Task Force on Tuesday night. The Task Force will recommend up to six marijuana commercial locations operate in the City of Framingham. A public hearing is tentative for September 6.

Temescal Wellness, on its website stated it “serves qualifying patients with a variety of high-quality cannabis medicines and education, in strict compliance with state and local rules and regulations. Our Registered Marijuana Dispensaries are located throughout Massachusetts. Our patients suffer from health conditions that are not sufficiently addressed with conventional treatments. We fill the void of traditional medicine. Our cannabis products are developed and processed with the highest standards. Our customized, patient-centric treatment plans are administered by our knowledgeable team of Patient Service Associates, and our medicinal cannabis products are 100% lab tested.”

The Company’s website stated it provides: “a wide array of flowers (the part of the plant that is harvested, dried, and used for medicine) that are low to high THC strains, and we also have a CBD (non-psychoactive) strain. In addition, we have pre-rolls (aka “joints”), capsules, rosin (a solvent-free extract), bubble hash, tinctures, transdermal patches, edibles, and “Cold Brew” concentrate.  We will have more products very soon, including more concentrates, more capsules, and more flower strains. There will always be multiple consumption methods for our patients to choose from.”

The Company, which also has a location in Hudson, stated “its gives back to its communities through its Patient Affordability Plan, its skilled and well-compensated workforce, its Community Benefit Funds, and through the state and federal taxes and charitable donations that it makes.”

Temescal Wellness also offers “complimentary in-service education presentations to a variety of individuals and companies in the community. We focus on educating people in various industries about the different products and services that Temescal Wellness offers its patients, as well as some basic information about how our patients safely use cannabis for their approved conditions.”
