FRAMINGHAM – I support Mike Gatlin for State Representative in the September 4 primary. I first became acquainted with Mike’s passion for economic development when I began to attend Framingham Downtown Renaissance meetings about ten years ago. It was there that I saw Mike’s leadership in support of the local businesses downtown. That group had a vision for a vibrant and thriving downtown that would be the heart of the community. The organization is now known as Framingham Downtown, Inc, where Mike is the chairman. As he is fond of saying, there are currently cranes downtown for the first time in 40 years. Investors are pouring more than $100 million into our community thanks in large part to the efforts of these groups that Mike has helped lead.
In addition to Mike’s work downtown, he is the chairman of the Economic Development and Industrial Corporation (EDIC) which I have been a member of since 2011. EDIC has increased the connection between City leaders and business owners as we have transformed our community into a place where businesses can thrive. Mike has volunteered countless hours to improve economic development in Framingham. His enthusiastic leadership drives the EDIC forward.
From the small shops downtown to the Fortune 500 Companies along the city’s highways, Mike understands that a diverse and successful business community is the only way to support the high quality of life that Framingham offers.
As a State Representative, I know Mike will bring this same energy to Beacon Hill and be a champion for Framingham.
I look forward to writing in Mike Gatlin’s name on September 4, and I hope you will too.
