LETTER: Gatlin Is the Right Choice For State Representative

FRAMINGHAM – The purpose of this letter is to endorse the candidacy of Mike Gatlin for the 6th Middlesex District State Representative.

I am the Deputy Director of Planning and Community Development for the Town of Hudson, President of the Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors, and proud resident of the City of Framingham, District 7.

In December of 2017, it was my honor and privilege to serve as Co-Chair of then Mayor-elect Dr. Yvonne Spicer’s transition team—a diverse, bipartisan group of community leaders,
educators, and government professionals committed to ensuring a smooth transition for the new Mayor and our new City.

We worked collaboratively to operationalize Dr. Spicer’s vision platform and fuse it with the new City of Framingham Charter.

It was during this time where I first met Mike and developed an immediate appreciation for his longstanding commitment to serving our community.

Mike was an invaluable member of the Transition Team, as he was the principal contributor to the Economic Development section of the Transition Report.

With his astute understanding of the nuts and bolts of municipal government, collaborative relationship with the local business community, and his role as Chairman of the Economic Development and Industrial Corporation, he offered recommendations to reframe and reshape our local economy.

Yet these recommendations were underpinned by Mike’s understanding and appreciation of the need to take a balanced, planned approach to growth and development; and, as a municipal planning professional, was music to my ears!

I can say with certainty, that Mike Gatlin will serve Framingham well as our State Representative on Beacon Hill. I encourage Framingham voters to read his platform statements
related to education, Elder Affairs, the Environment, and of course, economic development, and you will discover that Mike Gatlin is the right choice for State Representative.
Please consider writing in Mike Gatlin on September 4, 2018.

Sincerely,

Kristina Johnson
