FRAMINGHAM – Hundreds of pairs of socks were donated to Framingham Medical Reserve Corps last night during the Framingham Concert on the Common.
Framingham Public Health Nurse Kitty Mahoney came to the annual sock drive for Veterans dressed as a Pink Lady from Grease. Annually she dressed in ’50s themed clothes for the drive.
The Rotary Club of Framingham donated dozens of new white socks, as did many concert goers.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 929 donated about 300 pairs of white socks to the drive.
The Framingham Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) collects white socks for Operation Stand Down with the Massachusetts Association of Public Health Nurses. MRC volunteers have been providing foot care to at-risk and homeless veterans since 2008.
What is needed is white socks – tube, sport or athletic to support homeless and at risk veterans at the Annual Greater Boston Stand Down Event.
Missed the concert? Donations can be dropped off at the Veterans office at the Memorial Building in room B11 or at the Medical Reserve Corps Office at Fuller Middle at 31 Flagg Drive, door 14. The last day to make donations is September 1.
