FRAMINGHAM – Carroll Ann Hanson, 74, a longtime Framingham resident, died Wednesday, August 8, 2018 after a brave battle against pancreatic cancer.
Born in Melrose, and brought up in Watertown, she was the daughter of James C. and Julia R. (McNeil) McElligott, and the beloved wife of the late Vernon “Bud” Hanson.
She was a graduate of St. Lukes School in Belmont and Watertown High School.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in French from Emmanuel College, her master’s degree in French from Assumption College, and her master’s degree in Administration from Framingham State.
She began her career as an elementary school French teacher in Lexington and Wayland.
She later taught high school French, Spanish and Latin at Natick High School and was also a Vice Principal there.
She was Vice Principal at Ashland High School, and retired from Framingham High School where she taught French.
She enjoyed reading and was a member of several book clubs. She loved to travel and was planning on visiting the National Parks this summer.
Carroll cherished her many loving friends.
She was a very loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughter Liane (Mullahy) Kentas, son Jonathan Mullahy, son-in-law Solon Kentas, grandsons Martin and Evan Kentas, brothers James and John McElligott, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember her life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln Street in Framingham on Wednesday, August 15 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning in St. Anselm Church, 100 Landham Road in Sudbury at 10 a,m,
Interment will be private.
