FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Public Library Foundation has reaches its goal of raising $150,000 to purchase a bookmobile for the City of Framingham.
“The response from the community to raise these funds has been outstanding,” said Foundation president Ruth Winett.
In November, the Foundation plans to hold a donor appreciation event for those who helped the project become a reality.
“We had originally thought it might take two years to raise the full amount. But in less than a year, we’ve reached our goal, thanks to the generosity of the more than 250 individuals and institutions that donated to the project,” said Winett.
The new bookmobile is expected to be in service in April 2019.
The library’s last bookmobile was purchased more than 50 years ago and was discontinued because of budget issues several decades ago.
