Brookstone Closing All 100+ Stores

NATICK – Brookstone will close all 102 of its stores, including the one in the Natick Mall, it announced on Thursday.

The company, founded in 1965 as a mail-order business, is owned by Sanpower, a Chinese conglomerate, which purchased the chain for $173 million at a 2014 bankruptcy auction.

Brookstone opened its first brick & mortar store in New Hampshire in 1973.

In its bankruptcy filing, Brookstone cited debts of up to $500 million against assets of $50 million to $100 million.
