Mayor Swears In Ferguson As Acting City Clerk

FRAMINGHAM – Mayor Yvonne Spicer swore in Assistant City Clerk Lisa Ferguson as Acting City Clerk for the City of Framingham yesterday morning, with retiring City Clerk Valerie Mulvey, City Council Dennis Giombetti, and At-Large City Councilor George King in attendance.

Ferguson, who has served as either assistant town clerk or assistant city clerk since 1998, was appointed acting City Clerk on July 17 by a 10-0 vote of the Framingham City Council. Under the new City Charter, the City Clerk reports to the Council.

The Council also voted unanimously to only advertise the position internally for 14 days, with the implied intention to make Ferguson the official City Clerk after that time period.

Mulvey retired yesterday, July 27, after being elected Town Clerk in 2000. She served as the last Town Clerk and the first-ever City Clerk for Framingham.

The Mayor declared yesterday to be Valerie Mulvey Day in the City of Framingham.

Ferguson grew up in Framingham and attended Memorial Elementary and Barbieri Middle schools. She graduated from Framingham South High School.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration from Boston College/Framingham State University.

She has a Master in Public Administration from Framingham State University.

Ferguson is married to Ken Ferguson, who recently retired as Police Chief in Framingham.
