FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham is now advertising for a sustainability coordinator.
The newly-created position falls under the Facilities Management Department.
The full-time post has a pay scale of $72,090 – $81,186.
The individual would be responsible for “organizing, coordinating, facilitating, and advising the development, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of city policies, programs, and initiatives that promote environmental, energy, economic, and social sustainability by conducting research, analysis and public process to identify areas to improve the energy sustainability of the city organization and commercial and residential sectors. Measure and report program performance.”
The essential functions of the job according to the City’s website include:
Technical knowledge of policy and sustainability best practices in areas including: green purchasing, energy efficiency and conservation, materials management, natural resource
management, green building, low impact development, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, climate change and renewable energy
Assist in the implementation of energy conservation measures in the 20 year plans
Develop and implement outreach and communication strategies to engage staff, businesses and residents related to climate, energy and sustainability, including printed materials,
presentations, website and other creative communications.
Collaborates with various city departments and other city staff, for integrated program development and outreach.
Develop, or oversee the development of, marketing or outreach media for sustainability projects or events.
Research environmental sustainability issues, concerns, or stakeholder interests.
Develop sustainability reports, presentations, or proposals for supplier, employee, academia, media, government, public interest, or other groups
Develop, prepare and submit Annual Green Communities Reports.
Prepare, develop and submit Green communities Competitive grant and META grant applications and any other applicable energy conservation measures funding.
Assists departments in identifying and implementing best practices in sustainable operations by acting as a resource to and directing staff activities with the public, city departments and other organizations on sustainability programs and policies.
Develop and implement mechanisms to measure and track progress in achieving sustainability goals.
Keep current on Federal, State and local legislation affecting sustainability programs and projects, and analyze implications of new regulations and requirements.
Evaluate and approve proposals for sustainability projects, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and integration with other initiatives prior to
Serve as liaison between groups as required, attend and facilitate meetings.
Enhances employee performance through establishing and communicating clear expectations and evaluating performance in a fair and professional manner.
Assist the Capital Projects and Facilities Management Department management in any implementation of energy conservation measures or upgrades on all projects.
Performs all other related duties as required.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Policy or Management or related field and five to seven years related professional experience including development and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
