Framingham’s Mulvey Named Interim Principal at Mary Lyon School

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham resident Daniel Mulvey was appointed Interim Principal of Mary Lyon School in Brighton. The K-8 school is part of the Boston Public School district.

Mulvey, 35, is a lifelong Framingham resident grew up on William J Heights. He graduated from Framingham High in 2001.

He attended Springfield College where he played on the lacrosse team and graduated in 2005. He has a Bachelors Degree in Youth Development.

He held various positions related to public school education including Interim Vice Principal in a Fall River public school and as Program Coordinator for an Alternative School Program in New London, Connecticut before returning to Massachusetts and accepting a position at the Mary Lyon School as their After-School Coordinator.  He was later promoted to student support specialist.


Mulvey earned his Masters Degree in Special Education from Lesley University in 2015.

When outgoing Lyon School Principal Deborah Rooney announced her resignation, Mulvey was named as her replacement in June.

Mulvey coaches youth lacrosse in Framingham.

He lives in Framingham with his wife, 2-year old son and 4-month-old daughter.

Mulvey is the son of City Clerk Valerie Mulvey and Martin Mulvey of Framingham.
