FRAMINGHAM – Mary Kate Feeney, Democratic candidate for State Representative 6th Middlesex District, has received the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction for her commitment towards gun violence prevention and gun safety.
“Common-sense gun safety is an important issue facing our communities today, not only as it relates to reducing gun violence, but also as a matter of public health,” said Feeney, in a media release.
Since inception in 2012 after the Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting, Moms Demand Action has become the largest grassroots movement working to reduce gun violence. Moms Demand Action is a program of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention advocacy organization in the country, with more than 4.5 million grassroots supporters dedicated to common sense reforms that protect the 2nd Amendment and also make our communities safer.
“I am honored to be recognized with a Gun Sense Candidate distinction from Moms Demand Action. This grassroots movement is bringing community voices together to stand up against gun violence, and I am proud to stand with them and support these crucial reforms to increase public safety through common-sense gun safety measures,” she said.
Born and raised in Framingham, Feeney has been involved in the civic life of our community both as a volunteer and a public servant.
She is a graduate of Saint Francis Xavier University with a double major in political science & history.
