World Cup Preview: Mexico vs Brazil Monday 10 a.m.

FRAMINGHAM – Brazil and Mexico will battle in Samara Arena in Samara, Russia to determine who advances in the quarterfinals in the 2018 World Cup.

Game time is 10 a.m. Eastern standard time on Monday, July 2.

At this stage in the Wold Cup, the winner advances and the loser heads home.

Mexico already upset defending champion Germany in its opening match of the tournament.

Monday’s battle is considered a battle of two World Cup favorites, especially with Germany, Argentina, Spain and Portugal all out of World Cup play.

Mexico will be without Hector Moreno, who is suspended after picking up his second yellow card against Sweden. Players to watch for Mexico include Hector Herrera, Miguel Layun, and Jesus Gallardo.

Brazilian players to watch are: Philippe Coutinho, Thiago Silva, and Neymar. Alisson Becker, known by just his first name, is expected to be in goal for Brazil again. He is also a goalie for the Italian Club team Roma.

  • Xfinity Store on Route 126 in downtown Framingham at 100 Concord Street.

Editor’s Note: a couple of downtown Framingham’s Mexican restaurants are closed on Mondays.

The City of Framingham has parking restrictions downtown for Monday along portions of Route 126.

Mexico has never defeated Brazil in World Cup play. They are 0-4.
