FRAMINGHAM – Hundreds of residents in the City of Framingham came downtown to celebrate Brazil’s advancement in the 2018 World Cup.
Brazil defeated Serbia 2-0 yesterday to advance in the final 16 teams in the tournament.
Brazil will play next on Monday, July 2 against Mexico, who upset the defending champion team from Germany earlier in the tournament.
Germany was ousted from the World Cup when it lost 2-0 to South Korea, yesterday, June 27.
The City of Framingham instituted a parking ban downtown on Route 126 from 2 to 5 p.m. The City began ticketing vehicles just after 2:20 p.m.
The City began placing barriers along Route 126 during halftime of the game.
Dozens of police officers patrolled downtown after the win.
