FRAMINGHAM – Mary Marjorie (Sarno) Brooks, 84, a longtime resident of Framingham and Harwich, died peacefully with her family at her side, on Friday, June 22, 2018.
Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Ciraco & Rachel (Cotugno) Sarno, and the beloved wife of the late Curtis C. Brooks, Jr. who died in 2003.
Mary grew up in Framingham was a graduate of Framingham High, and earned her Bachelors degree from Framingham State College.
She taught 3rd grade in Framingham Public Schools for a short time, before settling down to raise her 3 children.
Mary loved Cape Cod and enjoyed summering at Great Sands Lakes for many years. Soon after Curtis’ retirement, he and Mary moved there full time. She loved watching the ocean waves at Red River Beach and sunsets at the lake. Always true to her faith, Mary was a devout Catholic.
Mary is survived by her children, Beth Shelly & her husband Don of Iowa, Chris Brooks of Framingham, and Amy Nelson & her husband David of PA, 10 grandchildren, Rachel, Rose, Mike, Doug, Curtis, Kevin, Megan, Carolyn, Erik, and Jacquelyn, 6 great grandchildren, her siblings, Eleanor Sebastian of Framingham, and Jerry Sarno of FL, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Mary was predeceased by her brother Paul Sarno.
Family and friends will honor and remember her life by gathering for a time of visitation in the Holy Family Chapel of St. Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central Street in Framingham on Tuesday, June 26 from 8:30to 9:45 a.m.
Her Funeral Mass will follow in the Chapel at 10 a.m.
Interment will be private.
