FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Amateur Radio Association (FARA) held its annual Ham Radio Field Day event on the grounds of the Christa McAuliffe branch library on Saturday.
The purpose of Field Day was to allow practice in emergency communications, using only batteries for power, with temporary antennas, so that local licensed radio operators are prepared for any emergency where they may be needed.
The field day lasted 4 hours.
The Association hosts monthly meetings at the Framingham Police Station (except July and August.). It also offers testing for FCC-issued amateur radio licenses. For more information, visit their Website for more details www.w1fy.org.
