Louise (Logan) Melton, age 75 of Framingham, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at her residence, after a long illness.
She was the beloved wife of George H. Melton, Jr., having recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Born in Lewes, DE, she was the daughter of the late Libby and Roy Reeves. Louise attended Caesar Rodney High School in Dover, DE and graduated from the University of Miami and Temple University with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in English.
She was most recently an Art Professor (retired) at Franklin Pierce University in NH, as well as an instructor at the Danforth Museum Art School in Framingham.
Early in her career, she was a speechwriter for Digital Equipment Corp. and Prime Computer, a freelance writer and political cartoonist for several national publications.
She was an avid reader, painter and gardener.
She collected political buttons, regardless of political party.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Ingrid Reeves Kushinsky and her husband Jonathan and Marion Louise Kelly and her husband James; and her three incredible grandsons, David Kushinsky and Christopher and Matthew Kelly, all of Framingham.
According to Louise’s wishes there will be no funeral services. Arrangements are entrusted to the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham.
A celebration of her life is being planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to either the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org), the Vasculitis Foundation (www.vasculitisfoundation.org) or to a charity of one’s choice. They also ask anyone to consider becoming an organ donor.
