UPDATED: Retired Framingham Police Chief Not Selected For Florida Top Cop Post

FRAMINGHAM – Retired Framingham Police Chief Ken Ferguson was not selected as the next police chief in Boynton  Beach Florida.

Ferguson was one of three finalists for the position, that was advertised at $99,662 to $149,494.

There were 83 applicants, but today, June 15, City Manager Lori LaVerriere  appointed Michael Gregory, a Fort Lauderdale assistant police chief as the community’s next police chief.

The three finalists were interviewed Monday by three panels – community, law enforcement and leadership.

After that, each city commissioner met with the candidates.

Members of the community attended a meet-and-greet with the three candidates ton Monday, at one of the fire stations.

On Tuesday, the three three finalist toured the community and had more interviews.

The 83 applicants were divided into three tiers based on qualifications, eighteen made the first round, followed by 12 in the second round, and then the three finalists.

Former Framingham Police Chief Steven Carl made it to the round of 12.
