John X. ‘Jack’ Malloy, 80

ASHLAND – John X. “Jack” Malloy, 80 of North Oxford, MA, formerly of Southbridge and Ashland, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Cuddy) Malloy.

Malloy was raised in Framingham, where he attended St. Stephen’s grade school and was a graduate of Our Lady’s High School in Newton. He went on to take college courses and later served our country as a member of the United States Air Force.

He was a retired supervisor with the Consolidated Railroad Company, where he was employed for over 40 years.

He was proud to be a licensed pilot and was an original member of the Framingham Heart Study.

He was also very proud of his 30 years of sobriety.

Malloy enjoyed his retirement, often wintering in Port Charlotte, FL. He also loved a good flea market, estate sale or auction.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary M. (Keach), along with his sons Daniel J. Malloy and his wife Patricia of Charlton, Dana S. Smith and his wife Elena of Pennsylvania, Douglas C. Smith of Fitchburg, and James E. Bacon of Worcester. He is also survived by his grandchildren, John Paul Malloy, Brian C. Smith, and Alyson Bi Smith, and his great granddaughter Avery Rose Smith. John is also survived by his siblings, Thomas J. Malloy of Natick and Mary Benoit of Westborough, along with many nieces and nephews, and his beloved 22 year old cat Baby.

He was predeceased by his son John X. Malloy, Jr., and his sisters Margaret Desilets and Helen Smith.

Family and friends will honor and remember his life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney and Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln Street in Framingham on Monday, June 11,  from 4-8 p.m.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 12,  at 9:00 in the morning at St. Cecilia’s Church, 54 Esty Street in Ashland.

Interment will be at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Framingham.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in John’s name to the American Heart Association,, or Second Chance Animal Shelter,
