Flyers Defeat Durfee; Battle #2 Harbormen on Thursday

FRAMINGHAM- Third time was the charm for the Framingham High boys tennis team.

After two rain delays on Monday and Tuesday, the Flyers defeated Durfee High School 5-0 in the MIAA Division 1 South preliminary round match at Framingham High on Wednesday afternoon.

The Flyers are now 8-5, and will travel to Hingham today, July 7, for a first round match against the #2 ranked Harbormen, who are 17-1. The Flyers are ranked #15 in the tourney. Match starts at 5 p.m.

The first two singles matches yesterday were very close.

Junior Zach Cohen won first singles 7-6 (8-6), and 6-4.

Senior Tyler Reynard won second singles 7-7 (11-9) and 6-2.

Junior Connor Neshe won third singles 6-3 and 6-0.

Seniors Nathan Halberstadt and Alex Hickey won 3-6, 7-6 and 10-4.

Seniors Mark Abramson and Verun Tekur won 7-6 (9-7) and 6-2.

The team is coached by Framingham High math teacher Craig Strader.
