FRAMINGHAM – Walsh Middle School was nominated for five MET (Massachusetts Educational Theater) Awards for their production of The Addams Family School Edition.
Three individuals were nominated for acting awards, and the middle school drama company was also nominated for Best Hair & Makeup Design and Execution and Best Prop Design & Execution.
Acting nominations went to:
- Diego Castrillo-Vilches for Best Actor in a Musical playing Gomez Addams
- Hadley Connor for Best Actress in a Musical for playing Wednesday Addams
- Talia Wesson was nominated for Best Featured Actress for her playing Pugsley Addams
“Diego, Hadley and Talia have been asked to perform in the opening number at the MET (Massachusetts Educational Theatre) Awards on June 23 at the Berkley Performance Center” in Boston,” said Walsh theatre teacher Sheron Doucette.
The awards are sponsored by Broadway in Boston and is part of the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild, the same organization that hosts the state-wide drama festival each year.
“Each year we are fortunate to have members of the Walsh Alumni return to help with our productions. This year one member of our alumni team that we were thrilled to welcome back was Hannah Cohen,” said Doucette. “Hannah, a recent graduate from Rider University, ran a series of Master Classes on stage makeup and created video tutorials so the cast could get their ghoul on. Hannah worked with the students to help them create the makeup design for their Ancestor characters.”
This is the sixth year Walsh Midle School’s drama company has participated and submitted entries to the MET awards. No other Framingham middle school entered.
