Burgess Break Framingham High 2-Mile Record; Swallow Finishes 8th at Division 1 Track Meet

ANDOVER – Framingham High junior Ben Burgess broke his own record, this weekend, when he finished seventh in the 2-mile at the MIAA Division 1 track meet at Andover High.

Burgess, a captain for the Framingham High outdoor track team, ran the two mile in 9:37 minutes.

His time will likely give him a wildcard spot in the all-state meet at Fitchburg State University on Saturday, June 2, said head coach Chris Collins.

Senior Andrew Swallow finished in 8th place overall at the Division 1 Championship meet Sunday in the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 6 inches.

Collins said, last night, he will likely qualify for the all-state meet, too.

Just missing the all-state meet qualification was junior Jerry Cruz, said Collins.

Cruz finished 8th overall in the 400-meter race with a time of 51.05 seconds.

He is “continuing to improve after getting healthy from a hamstring strain indoors,” said Collins.
