ANDOVER – Framingham High freshman Sophie Albright finished in a 3-way tie for sixth place at the MIAA Division 1 State track meet Sunday, May 27 at Andover High School. She cleared 5 feet.
“It’s not clear how the MIAA will handle advancement” to the all-state meet, said head track coach Chris Collins last night. “As there were many outside the top 4 results of 5 feet height in the 6 state meets that took place leading into All-States. My early thought is that she will be in.”
The Division 1 State meet is also considered the Eastern Championship meet for track and field. The all-state meet will be held at Fitchburg State University on Saturday, June 2.
Framingham High junior track captain Grace Poku finished 7th in the 200-meter race. Her time was 26.12 seconds.
Collins said she “looks to be wildcarding into All-States easily.”
The Framingham High girls outdoor 4 X 100 relay team placed 21st overall. Runners were Albright, senior Lauren Walker, senior Francesca Barsanti, and sophomore Kiley Dustin.
“Lauren and Frannie are amazing and will be sorely missed next year,” said Collins.
