UPDATED: 5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Thursday, May 24


1 Tonight, the Framingham Homework Center will host the 5th Annual Middle School Spelling Bee at the main Framingham Library. The event starts at 7 in the Costin room.

Students from the Christa McAuliffe Charter School won the first two spelling bees, then Fuller Middle School captured the title in the third year, and last year Cameron Middle School took the trophy.


2. Tonight is the 2nd Annual MetroWest Corporate 5K. The event hosted by the United Way of Tri-Country takes place in Saxonville.


3. Framingham Source has a new Facebook group to post highlights and discuss sports in the City. The group is for youth, club, high school, college/university and adult sports. All are welcome to join, by clicking here.

  • Framingham High boys volleyball hosts Needham High at 4 p.m. at the gym. It is senior night.


4. CITY of FRAMINGHAM meetings:

  • Framingham Recreational Marijuana Task Force has a meeting at 5 p.m. at the Memorial Building in the Blumer room.
  • Framingham Assessors are scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. at the Memorial Building
  • Framingham Planning Board will meet tonight at 7 in the Memorial Building in the Ablondi room.

According to Mayor’s public calendar on the City of Framingham’s website, the mayor has no public events today, but she is expected to attend both the Corporate 5K and the Homework Center’s spelling bee according to organizers.


5. Brophy Elementary School hosts its all-school art show tonight at 6.
