Framingham License Commission Green Lights Cracking Crab Restaurant

FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham License Commission unanimously approved a license for a Hudson-based company Huanglin, Inc. to open a new restaurant on Route 9 East, last night, May 21.

The Cracking Crab, will open at 290 Worcester Road late next month, said Ji Huang one of the owners/manager last night to the 5-member Framingham License Commission.

The space was formerly occupied by The Thai Place, which closed last year.

Huang said he had been in the restaurant businesses since he was 18, and has almost two decades worth of experience in the industry. He said his family runs a Japanese restaurant in MetroWest, and that his partner in the Cracking Crab has operated a restaurant in California.

He said the restaurant is undergoing renovations, now.

The restaurant will steam, not boil the crabs, to capture their flavor, he said.

There will be seating for about 55 patrons, all inside. No outside seating.

The proposed hours of the restaurant will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The owner said he is looking at a soft opening some time after Father’s Day.
