FRAMINGHAM – The South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) has entered into an agreement to purchase Suburban Athletic & Child in Framingham.
“SMOC has entered into a purchase and sales agreement with Suburban Athletic & Child and while we do not have a specific start date, the two organizations are working closely together to provide a smooth transition for all families and their children who are currently enrolled in the childcare program. SMOC has the highest regard for the educators in this childcare program and there are no plans for any changes to the program or staff,” said SMOC Executive Director Jim Cuddy.
Suburban Child families were notified of the potential sale of the child care this week.
“We have been assured that our educators will remain intact and will continue to work with your children going forward as we entire this new and exciting time for the Suburban Child program,” wrote Lesley Kinney and Steven Ratner. The property is owned by Ratner Realty out of Dover.
Child care is available 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the center at 10 Roxanna Street. The building is more than 40 years old, and dates back to about 1976.
SOURCE reached out to Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer for comment. She did not respond.
The child care building at 10 Roxanna is assessed at $882,700 according to the City of Framingham Assessors.
The athletic facility at 12 Roxanna Street is assessed at $2.685 million, according to City of Framingham Assessors.
The two properties combined are assessed at more than $3.5 million.
The sale price is unknown at this time. SMOC provided not other details tonight but the statement from Cuddy. SOURCE also called and left a message for Kinney and Ratner.
SMOC’s mission to to improve the quality of life of low-income and disadvantaged individuals and families by advocating for their needs and rights; providing services; educating the community; building a community of support; participating in coalitions with other advocates and searching for new resources and partnerships, according to its website.
The athletic club has an indoor soccer field and a swimming pool. Many local soccer teams practice there including Stars, Flair Futsal, and a couple of other Brazilian soccer teams.
