Marilyn E. (Thomas) Durgin, 84, Worked at Framingham Union Hospital For Decades

FRAMINGHAM – Marilyn E. (Thomas) Durgin, 84, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018.

Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Shirley Ralph & Florence May (Banks) Thomas, and the beloved wife of the late Albert W. Durgin for more than 53 years.

She graduated from Framingham High School in 1951, and Simmons College in 1955.

She began her career as a Real Estate Broker, and co founded Lynwood Reality with her mother, Florence.

She later became the Chief Dietician throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s at Framingham Union Hospital, during which time she taught at the School of Nursing.  She then became the ER receptionist for 14 years, and finished her career as the out patient receptionist at the age of 82.

Durgin enjoyed traveling, especially to Maine, the Cape, and Florida. She loved the theatre; her favorite musicals were The Desert Song and Young Frankenstein.

Her passion was art and painting, having sold many paintings through the Seacoast Artist Association in Exeter, NH, the Sanford-Springvale Art Association of Sanford, ME, and the Danforth Museum in Framingham.

She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Durgin of Framingham, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will honor and remember her life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln Street in Framingham on Monday, May 14 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Her Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.

Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Springvale, Maine at 2 p.m.
