FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Cultural Council awarded the director of the Framingham Public Library its contributor of the year award tonight, April 30.

Mark Contois has been a professional librarian for more than 33 years, the last decade as the Director of the Framingham Public Library.

He is involved in the community in which he works, in his profession, and many organizations in his hometown of Palmer, Massachusetts.

Contois is a strong believer that the public library is more effective and impactful when it aligns and works in collaboration with community organizations and institutions. The Framingham Public Library is recognized as a leader in collaborative programs and partnerships.

He is married to Nancy Contois, also a library director. Their children are all grown now, and they have had the pleasure of
welcoming their first grandchild into the family in 2017.

When not at the Library, he enjoys reading, bicycling, and working on his 133-year-old Victorian home.
