PHOTOS: Wegmans Opens Sunday at Natick Mall

 

 NATICK – Wegmans will open its newest location in Massachusetts on Sunday, April 29 at 7 a.m.

SOURCE received a sneak peek into the company’s first multi-level store today, April 27.

This Wegmans Food Market is not the largest in the family-owned chain, but it is twice the size of the one in Chestmut Hill and the among the three largest in the almost 100 store chain.

Spanning two levels, each with direct access to the mall, the 146,500 square-foot Natick location features a cart conveyer system with an adjacent escalator for customers to navigate between floors.

The ground level encompasses natural foods, grocery, dairy, bulk, and frozen items, along with health and wellness, home and entertaining, and an huge selection of wine, liquor, and beer.

Also on the first floor is a wine tasting room, and an temperature-controlled wine area. There is also a make your own 6-pack of craft beer section.

On the second level, customers will find two restaurants The Burger Bar and  Blue Dalia Restaurant & Tequila Bar , which doesn’t open until Friday, May 4; and a Buzz Coffee Shop, a Salad Bar, a Pizza Oven, as Asian Bar, and a Sushi Bar with seating in the mall, fresh produce, seafood, meat, cheese, deli, and charcuterie, catering, a bakery, and a floral shop.

There is also a Cookie Bar that will offer more than 2 dozen types of freshly made daily.

The Burger Bar is only the second one in Massachusetts. The first is Medford.

Also on the second floor, is a salad bar. You can select from a half dozen seasonal options or make your own or $9. The Salad bar is a first in Massachusetts for Wegmans.

The Company has hired 550 employees but is still hiring. In preparation for the opening, new employees have been training for up to six months at other Wegmans stores in Massachusetts.

Customers can visit www.wegmans.com/natick to sign up for a Wegmans Shoppers Club card and download the Wegmans app, which offers recipes, digital coupons, and the ability to create shopping lists sorted by aisle.

The store has five entrances, include three to mall garages. Two entrances go directly into the mall. Shopping carts can go into the garage but not into the mall.

The Wegmans garage, with a walkway entrance, has 1,800 parking spaces.
