Mayor Spicer Issues Proclamation Declaring April 27 Arbor Day in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer read a proclamation at Keefe Technical High School declaring today, April 27 as Arbor Day in the City.

Framingham Department of Public Works employees and Keefe Technical students from the horticultural program, have been participating in a joint Arbor Day event for more than a decade in Framingham.

The first American Arbor Day was marked in Nebraska City, Nebraska, by J. Sterling Morton on April 10 in 1872. On that day, an estimated one million trees were planted in the state of Nebraska.
