FRAMINGHAM – Jeanne R. Bissen, 90, a longtime resident of Framingham, died on Friday morning April 20, 2018.
Born in Ladysmith, WI, she was the daughter of the late Augustus & Elizabeth (Boss) Hendricks, and the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Bissen.
She grew up on the family dairy farm in Wisconsin.
She met and married Richard and together they traveled for his work. Eventually settling in Framingham in 1957 where they raised their 8 children.
Over the years, she was active in her faith, first at St. Jeremiah’s Parish serving as treasurer and later the president of the Sodality Society as well as singing in the choir. Later joining St. George Parish and continuing with the choir there.
She was the past treasurer and president of the Pinefield Garden Club, and enjoyed gardening and flower arranging for many years.
More than anything, Jeanne loved taking care of her grandchildren, and playing her organ.
She is survived by her children, Peter of NY, Thomas & his wife Lisa of Bellingham, Margaret Chamrin of CT, Richard & his wife Nancy of GA, Robert of Haverhill, Mary Sadler & her husband Joel of NH, Susan Haverstock of Acton, and Cathy Jones & her husband Douglas of Medway, 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Richard, she was predeceased by her son-in-law Jerry Chamrin, and daughter-in-law, Lois Bissen.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jeanne’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln Street in Framingham on Tuesday, April 24 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning in St. George Church, 74 School Street in Saxonville, at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery.
